Year 11 Geographers conduct fieldwork at Eastern Beach
Posted on March 05, 2025
Fifty Year 11 MCert Geographers recently had the opportunity to dive into their first experience of geographic fieldwork.
Their challenge: to propose a location for a potential second boat ramp at Eastern Beach.
The students were introduced to four potential sites, carefully selected by teachers, and tasked with gathering critical data at each location to evaluate and justify the most suitable site for a new boat ramp. As part of their investigation, students measured wind speed and direction, as well as capturing a profile of the beach. To ensure comprehensive analysis, students also collected photographic evidence at each site.
Armed with this data, the students are now in the process of drafting detailed proposals in class, analysing their findings to recommend the best location for a new boat ramp - based on their fieldwork observations.
