Vietnamese international students from Nguyen Sieu School recently embarked on a memorable journey to one of New Zealand’s most iconic natural attractions - the Waitomo Caves.

From underground marvels to glowing grottos, the trip offered a day of wonder, learning and lasting impressions.

The group departed from Macleans College early in the morning, filled with anticipation for the day ahead.

Their first stop was the impressive Ruakuri Cave. Students descended a striking spiral walkway that led deep underground, where they were introduced to the fascinating world of stalagmites, stalactites and the bioluminescent glow worms. The 90-minute guided tour through ancient limestone passages left the group in awe of nature’s artistry.

After a short drive, the students arrived at the renowned Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Here, they took a boat ride through the underground grotto. Thousands of tiny glow worms lit up the dark, forming a spectacular natural light show.

The excursion gave students from Nguyen Sieu School a deeper appreciation of New Zealand’s unique geological features. It was an unforgettable experience that highlighted the beauty of the natural world.
