Student artwork showcased at Auckland Art Gallery

Macleans College Visual Arts students submitted an inspiring total of 48 artworks for the 2025 Pat Hanly Creative Project.

These works were featured in a projected display during the Young Gallery Night on Friday 18 August at Auckland Art Gallery.

In July, gallery representatives visited the Macleans College Art Department to view the submissions and speak with students about the ideas behind their work.

Following this visit, the selection panel chose Caitlin Austin’s (Upham House) painting The Game Of Life for inclusion in the final exhibition. Her work reflects the curatorial theme of Ko wai au by exploring her personal connection with tennis. The painting conveys both the strategies and multiple lines of play that shape the game.

The final exhibition is open to the public at Auckland Art Gallery until Sunday 31 August.
