Snell House donates $5,000 to Halberg Disability Sport Foundation

Posted on October 13, 2025

On Tuesday 7 October, Snell House proudly presented a $5,000 donation to the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation - following a successful year of fundraising efforts at Macleans College.

The presentation was held at Snell House, where House Captains Emily Ong and Asher Langley presented the cheque to Halberg representatives Joseph Dan-Tyrell and McKenzie Smith, a former Macleans College student (Upham House 2016 - 2020).

The donation reflects the collective effort and generosity of Snell House students and staff throughout the year, demonstrating the strong community spirit that defines the House.

Funds were raised through a variety of student-led initiatives, including bake sales, drink stalls and the annual Snell House carnival.  These events not only united the House but also gave students meaningful opportunities to support a worthy cause while building teamwork and leadership skills.

The Halberg Disability Sport Foundation works to enhance the lives of physically disabled New Zealanders by enabling their participation in sport and recreation.  The donation from Snell House will support programmes that promote inclusion and accessibility, helping more young people experience the joy and benefits of physical activity.

House Captains Emily and Asher said they were proud of the achievement, noting that it showcased the power of student involvement and collective action.  ‘We’re really proud of what Snell House has accomplished this year,’ said Emily. ‘It’s rewarding to know our efforts will make a difference in people’s lives.’

The presentation was a fitting conclusion to a year defined by generosity, teamwork and service - values at the heart of Snell House identity.
