National Secondary School Fencing Championships 2025

The Fencing Club at Macleans College concluded their season at the National Secondary School Fencing Championships, held in Christchurch.
Macleans College entered more individual competitors and teams than any other school at the event.
The students represented the school with dignity, showing gracious sportsmanship and strong commitment on the piste, even while managing injuries.
Although individual competitors did not achieve the results they had hoped for, half were new to the championships and gained valuable experience at this high level of competition.
The teams showed remarkable determination. The Ladies’ Sabre, Men’s Sabre and Second Men’s Foil teams all performed strongly. The highlight came from the Men’s First Foil team, who secured silver medals. For the third consecutive year, they faced Kristin School in the finals.
