Students showcase strength and resilience in annual MacFit Challenge

Posted on November 13, 2025

As part of the Macleans College MCert Physical Education Advanced course, students recently completed the MacFit Challenge, a key assessment of their fitness and endurance.

Throughout the term, students developed their understanding of how the body functions at peak performance while training to improve strength, agility and resilience.  Their preparation culminated in the MacFit Challenge - a demanding 3.5 km course around Macleans Park.

The event tested both physical and mental endurance, with students completing an agility circuit, carrying kettlebells uphill, rowing 500 metres on an erg and performing a medicine ball throw contributing to their final score.  Despite pre-race nerves, all participants demonstrated determination and teamwork as they tackled each stage of the course.

At the conclusion of the challenge, students were commended for their commitment and perseverance.  Trophies were presented to the top performers in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

Congratulations to the top placegetters for 2025:

1st - India Crowhurst (Te Kanawa House) and James Whiteley (Kupe)
2nd - Jessica Jee (Snell) and Ben Ellis (Rutherford)
3rd - Sienna Long (Te Kanawa) and Asher Namba (Snell)
