Two talented figure skaters from Macleans College have taken their skills to the international stage, proudly representing New Zealand in recent overseas competitions.

Their performances not only showcased their dedication and talent but also earned them significant results and recognition.

Year 12 student Alethea Wong (Te Kanawa House) and Year 11 student Sophie Pokorny (Te Kanawa) competed at the Thailand Open Figure Skating Trophy, held in Bangkok from 2 - 6 May. Sophie entered the Advanced Novice division, placing 13th in the short program and 14th in the free skate, finishing 14th overall. Alethea competed in the Junior division, finishing 19th in the short program and 12th in the free skate, also placing 14th overall.

Later in May, the pair travelled to Melbourne to compete in the Oceania International Figure Skating Competition, held 26 - 28 May. Alethea achieved a seventh place in the short program and an impressive second place in the free skate, earning a third place overall and securing a bronze medal in the Junior division.

Alethea recently competed in the New Zealand qualifying event for the national representative team, meeting the criteria for selection to the International A team.
