The Macleans College Interact Club was honoured to host Jane Drumm, Auckland Co-chair of Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand (CFNZ), who gave a moving and personal presentation to student members.

Jane shared her family’s journey, offering a heartfelt account of the daily challenges faced by those living with cystic fibrosis. Her story deepened the students’ understanding of the resilience needed to manage this lifelong condition. She also emphasised the critical support CFNZ provides to individuals and families affected.

The session highlighted the tangible impact of student fundraising. CFNZ uses donations to deliver care packs to hospitalised children, fund access to essential medications and wellbeing programs that improve the quality of life for patients and their whānau.

Although there is no known cure for cystic fibrosis, CFNZ’s initiatives - sustained by community donations - lighten the burden for more than 540 New Zealanders living with the condition. Jane’s message reflected the Macleans College’s value of sympathy and service: that compassion, combined with action, can uplift others and create meaningful change.

Jane’s visit left Interact Club members both informed and inspired. To conclude the session, the club proudly presented a $6,000 donation to support CFNZ’s work.
