Get to Go Adventure Race puts students through their paces
Posted on August 12, 2025
Two teams from Macleans College recently competed in the Auckland Regional Qualifier Adventure Race, a multi-discipline event testing endurance, teamwork and strategy.
The students faced three challenges over a 60 minute rogaine course: team problem-solving, mountain biking and orienteering. Both teams demonstrated determination as they navigated through each stage, putting their co-ordination, memory, biking and navigational skills to the test.
Macleans College 1 achieved an impressive fifth place in the mixed open division. Despite facing a difficult orienteering phase due to construction blocking their intended route, the team maintained strong teamwork and consistent effort across all events.
Macleans College 2, a development team, gained valuable experience despite time penalties for a late return during the rogaine course. Their teamwork shone during the problem-solving section, earning them an 11th place overall.
Special thanks to Darren Ashmore and his team from Hillary Outdoors, as well as Bigfoot Adventures and the Counties Manukau Orienteering Club, for supporting the event.
