Year 13 Macleans College student Aaron Huang (Rutherford House) has been selected to join a five-member team representing New Zealand at the Australasian Economics Olympiad (AAEO). This event will be held in Sydney from 3-6 July.
Aaron has worked diligently over the past two years to earn this achievement. Selection was competitive, with 120 students from 20 schools across New Zealand vying for a place on the team.
The AAEO is a collaborative outreach initiative that brings together high school Economics Olympiad winners from 12 Australasian countries. The event features a range of activities designed to refine and assess students’ understanding of economics. Participants are challenged to apply economic knowledge and reasoning to real-world issues in policy, business and finance.
In addition to the competition, students will visit key economic institutions in Australia and engage with peers who share their passion for economics.
Aaron’s mentor, Macleans College teacher Mrs Ladkoo, expressed her pride in his accomplishment, saying his selection for the national team is thoroughly deserved.
