Posted on August 18, 2025

Former Macleans College student Daniel Taylor (Mansfield House 2019 - 2023) recently competed at the inaugural U22 Oceania Rowing Championships held in Adelaide.

He earned selection for the North Island team following trials at Lake Karāpiro earlier this year.

The event featured crews from across Australia and New Zealand, with representation from both the North and South Islands. Hosted by Rowing South Australia, the championships showcased emerging trans-Tasman rowing talent.

Despite challenging weather on the second day of competition, the North Island team performed strongly. Daniel’s crew placed third in the coxless four and secured second place in the coxed eight, beating Victoria in a photo finish.

Daniel was previously a member of the Macleans College Rowing Squad. He now rows for St George’s Rowing Club and the University of Auckland.
