Posted on September 08, 2025
The Macleans College Investment Club welcomed alumna Mikaila Harris (Rutherford House 2007 - 2010), who returned to share her professional journey with current students.
Mikaila is a Senior Tax Advisor at the New Zealand Super Fund (NZSF), a government-led initiative managing more than $85 billion NZD in assets.
She gave students an overview of the diverse range of investments held by the NZSF and explained her day-to-day responsibilities at the fund. She also described her work with the New Zealand Government, noting how the NZSF balances risk management with the goal of delivering strong long-term returns to secure future pensions for all New Zealanders.
As part of Macleans College’s Alumni Speaker Series, which connects current students with alumni who have excelled in their fields, Mikaila shared advice on building a career in the portfolio finance sector. Her talk concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where she provided practical guidance and answered questions from students interested in the finance industry.
The session was both informative and inspiring, offering students a valuable opportunity to learn from a former Macleans College student who has achieved success in a competitive sector.
Macleans College extends its sincere thanks to Mikaila for volunteering her time and generously giving back to the school community. Alumni who wish to volunteer as guest speakers, either at events or in the classroom, are warmly encouraged to do so. Follow this link to learn more and register your interest.
